ReCreate Buffalo's mission is to inspire creativity, conservation, collaboration, and community engagement through reuse.
 

We believe that materials still have value long after their first use. By rescuing reusable arts, crafts, office, and educational supplies from the waste stream, we make creativity more accessible while reducing environmental impact. Through affordable materials, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships, we empower people of all ages and backgrounds to create, connect, and care for our shared environment.

We envision a Western New York where creativity is accessible to everyone, reusable materials are valued as community resources, and waste is transformed into opportunity.

ReCreate Buffalo strives to become a regional hub for creative reuse by:

• Diverting thousands of pounds of reusable materials from local landfills each year.

• Providing affordable creative supplies for educators, artists, students, families, nonprofits, and community organizations.

• Reducing financial barriers to artistic expression and hands-on learning.

• Inspiring environmental stewardship through reuse, repair, and resource conservation.

• Creating welcoming spaces where people can learn new skills, exchange ideas, and build meaningful community connections.

• Supporting local artists, educators, and makers through partnerships, workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative programing.

• Strengthening Buffalo's creative economy while promoting sustainability and responsible consumption.

• Building an inclusive organization where everyone is encouraged to create, contribute, and belong.

As we grow, we envision establishing a permanent Creative Reuse Center that serves as a destination for affordable materials, creative programing, exhibitions, volunteerism, and community collaboration throughout Western New York.
 

Every year, countless usable materials are discarded simply because they are no longer needed by their original owner. At the same time, educators spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket, artists struggle with the cost of supplies, and families often cannot afford materials that inspire imagination and learning.
 

Creative reuse connects these challenges with a simple solution: rescuing valuable materials and putting them back into the hands of people who can use them.
 

Together, we can reduce waste, conserve resources, support creativity, and build a stronger, more connected community—one donated item, one project, and one person at a time.
